With the
help of donations from Wheaton College, The Deutsche Bank Championship, and
South Shore Millwork, the Norton Police Department was able to purchase
traffic safety equipment to be used on the streets of Norton. Wheaton
College donated $10,000 and The Deutsche Bank Championship donated $5,000 to
purchase a trailerable speed monitor radar unit. The unit can track a
vehicle's speed, warning the operator if he or she is speeding, and can also
display messages used to inform motorists of road hazards and special events.
The speed monitor can be deployed to areas of town where residents air
concerns about speeding vehicles. South Shore Millwork also donated
$2,000 to purchase two handheld radar units. The police department
greatly appreciates these donations and the dedication to the safety of this
community these organizations have shown. Norton Police Patrolman Brian
Greco has worked together with these organizations over the past year,
researched the traffic equipment, and ultimately purchased the equipment for
the department.
